Faith Under Fire: How School Vouchers Are Eroding Religious Freedom

Why School Vouchers Undermine Public Education
As a concerned citizen and education advocate, I have serious reservations about school voucher programs. The financial implications alone are deeply troubling. According to recent reports from the Texas Legislative Board, the proposed voucher system would divert critical funding away from our already underfunded public schools.
The economic math simply doesn't add up. By redirecting taxpayer dollars to private and charter schools, we risk creating a two-tiered educational system that further disadvantages students in already struggling school districts. These voucher proposals sound appealing on the surface, but they represent a short-sighted approach to addressing educational inequality.
Moreover, the potential long-term consequences extend far beyond immediate financial concerns. When public schools lose funding, they lose the ability to provide comprehensive educational resources, maintain competitive teacher salaries, and support essential programs that benefit all students.
Instead of pursuing voucher programs, we should focus on meaningful investments in public education that lift up every student, regardless of their zip code or economic background.
